Looney Toons Backpack
A favourite of last year, we were able to purchase another 150 of these lovely bags for just 80p each, less than one tenth of what we could purchase them for online!
With the country facing one of its most challenging financial crisis for decades, we were under no illusion that we were going to be under pressure this year for help. Wave 105’s Mission Christmas South received requests from charities, social workers and schools to provide presents for over 20,000 children & teenagers living in severe poverty across our region. This was nearly a 20% increase on the number we had provided for in 2021.

The Gale Foundation Trust, with our increasing group of sponsors, were able to purchase 1,922 presents through the year at a retail value of over £27,000 . Through the purchasing ability of the GFT these gifts actually cost £7,720 saving nearly £20,000 on the best online prices we could find at the time.

We were able to buy a wide variety of Lego sets, large and small this year with huge savings.
Examples are the 60 Lego pirate ships we bought for £5.16 each which were selling online for between £40-60.
We bought 336 Stuntz bike and rider sets for £1.68 each, retailing online for £6
No doubt this year’s cutest gifts, we managed to buy 190 of these adorable cuddly lions.
The large 33cm lions cost us £5 each and the smaller 15cm ones just £1.56 each.
The retail prices of both of these were £15 and £10 respectively, another huge saving.
Once again we took advantage of the annual sale and bought a record 357 toys for £3,900 saving £2,855 on the regular price.
We are delighted to report that thanks to the generosity of people across the south, Mission Christmas South hit its target and brought smiles and happiness to over 20,000 thousand children and teenagers on Christmas day.
