Christmas For Kids
The GFT has been proudly supporting Christmas for Kids (C4K) since 2018. Prior to the Covid pandemic, C4K used to provide a live, interactive puppet show to all children’s hospices in the UK during the run up to Christmas. Employing 3 teams of 3 actors in each, these teams would tour the country taking their fun, sensory shows to children and their families who would otherwise not have such an opportunity.
The pandemic made these in person shows impossible but, undeterred, C4K devised an online show for 2020 called Benson’s Christmas Letter which was made available to 70 children’s hospices and 90 SEND schools across the country and, in doing so, reached far more children than in previous years. The online show was so well received that 2021 saw C4K go online again with ‘Phoebe’s First Christmas’. With Covid restrictions lifted for 2022, the charity resumed the live tour shows as well as continuing with the online digital show.
Such has been the success of C4K that the charity is looking to expand its work with charities and SEND schools all year round which has led to a restructuring. Now known as Embracing Arts, C4K is now one of 3 projects the new entity provides. The other 2 are Embracing Arts Workshops and Embracing Arts Parties making their mix of puppetry, music and multi-sensory stimulation available throughout the year.
